Event Marketing

I have been super busy the past few weeks working on some big events in town.  They both were held last week….and both were a huge success!

The event marketing side of my business has grown very quickly.   I thought I would share some of the artwork and marketing I have been working on, and at the same time provide some helpful tips for marketing an event.

Bring North Mecklenburg Animal Rescue to NoDa Music Festival

This event was held a little over a week ago at Birdsong and NoDa breweries in the North Davidson area of Charlotte. We started planning for this event back in October of last year.  And I am pleased to say that we sold out all 300 tickets days before the event and raised almost $15,000 for the animal rescue. WOW!

Step One

Reserve the website URL, Facebook page and Twitter handle. Once we did this, we set up a splash page for the website until we were ready to build that.  This splash page directed people to our Facebook and Twitter pages.  Don’t forget to set up an email address for your event too – this should come free with your web hosting.

Step Two

Design a Save the Date – acting as a teaser with basic information about the event.  We ran with this for a few months while we gathered sponsors for the event.

Step Three

Design a Sponsorship Flyer used to raise money for the event.  Outline all of the benefits of being a sponsor.  Give a deadline for their logo inclusion on the invitation/event poster.

Step Four

Design the event poster (or invitation) for the event.  Include all details for day of, and information for buying tickets if applicable.

Step Five

Website design – this should launch with the main event poster if not before.

Step Six

For this event we relied on email marketing from North Meck Animal Rescue, posters which we hung up at local businesses in the NoDa area and these postcards which we left on community boards, at dog supply stores, coffee shops etc.

We raised money from our sponsors, ticket sales, donations, raffle tickets and a silent auction….almost $15,000!  Some photos from the event:

This was my second year working with this group.  Last year, I worked on some art direction for the website and the program design.  Read more about last year here.   This year, I was much more involved with all of the art designs.

Step One

Save The Date, which we also used as the main event flyer.  This was used across social media, and emailed out to all of last year’s attendees and our contacts.

Step Two

Redesign the Facebook and Twitter pages to match this year’s theme “Learning on Purpose”

Step Three

Website – we started completely over with new web hosting, a new WordPress theme and design.

Step Four

For the day of, I designed this program to be handed out to all attendees…

Oh, and don’t forget the name tags!

Here are all of the organizers- including me (the short one).  I am so honored to be a part of this awesome TEDx event!

SO…..as you can see, I have been busy.  I have a few other events I am working on currently, so stay tuned!
